Competition Format

The Voyageur Cup and North Star Open is a World Cup-style archery tournament presented by the Minnesota Archers Alliance and held annually in August.

Archers will shoot a standard USA Archery qualifying round on Saturday consisting of 72 arrows shot in twelve six-arrow ends. For MAA members, Saturday’s qualifying round —the North Star Open—is also the MAA/USA Archery Outdoor Championship for adults, the MAA/USA Archery JOAD Outdoor Championship for JOAD athletes, and the MAA/S3DA Outdoor Championship for S3DA athletes.

The Saturday scores are used to seed the brackets for Sunday’s elimination rounds. Each elimination round match consists of five three-arrow ends for compound archers and a standard set system match of three-arrow ends for recurve archers. The winners of the elimination rounds take home the Voyageur Cup in each age division and equipment class.

Prizes

Total prize money of up to $7,000 is available for male and female podium finishers in the senior compound and recurve divisions. Payout is $1,000, $500, and $250 for the top finishers in each division.

At least three participants are required in a division to conduct head-to-head elimination matches. Payout for second place requires at least four participants. Payout for third place requires at least seven participants. Youth may shoot up and masters may shoot down for the elimination matches as long as they shoot the senior distances for qualification.
